Don’t Know How to Walk in God’s Peace and Presence? Here’s How
Do you love God but struggle to feel His peace and presence outside of Sunday? You are not alone — and you are not failing. You may just be spiritually sleeping.
In this episode of the Living God’s Way Podcast, Christian author and coach Kim Dolan Leto answers the question every Christian woman is asking but afraid to say out loud — I love God but I don’t know how to walk in His peace and presence every single day. Not just on Sunday when the worship is good and the message hits. But on Monday. In the carpool line. In the middle of the hard conversation. In the middle of a workout. In the middle of a crisis.
Because there is a gap. Between the faith you feel in church and the anxiety you feel by Monday morning. And that gap is costing you more than you know.
Today we are closing it.

Why Walking in God’s Peace and Presence Feels So Hard Every Day
Most Christian women are not doubting God. They are not walking away from their faith. They are showing up to church, reading their Bibles when they can, praying when things get hard — and still feeling like something is missing.
And if we are really honest — we perform on the outside while quietly unraveling on the inside. We think that if we publicly call ourselves Christians we have to appear perfect. We hide our pain because we are afraid someone will say “I thought you were a Christian — where is your faith?”
Here is what is actually missing: not more effort. More connection.
Jesus said in John 15:5 — “I am the vine, you are the branches. If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit. Apart from me you can do nothing.”
Not less. Not a smaller version of what you wanted. Nothing.
The problem is never God’s power. The problem is the connection. And when we are not intentionally staying connected to the vine throughout our day — not just on Sunday morning — we feel exactly the way most Christian women describe. Distant. Dry. Like God is somewhere but not here.
What Ecclesiastes Teaches Us About the Gap in God’s Peace and Presence
Solomon was the wisest, richest, most powerful king in Israel’s history. He had access to everything the world said would make him happy — power, popularity, prestige, pleasure. And he looked at all of it and declared one word:
Vanity.
Empty. Meaningless. The futile attempt of trying to be happy apart from God. Nothing can fill the God-shaped void in a person’s life but God Himself.
But once life is seen from God’s perspective — everything changes. Solomon declares: eat, drink, rejoice, do good, live joyfully, fear God, keep His commandments. Skepticism and despair melt away when life is viewed as a daily gift from God.
This is the answer to why walking in God’s peace and presence feels so hard every day. Not a better routine. Not a longer quiet time. A perspective shift — from living under the sun to living in the presence of God.
And here is the painful truth: when we fill that God-shaped void with hustle, achievement, fitness goals, business success, or even ministry — we will end up exactly where Solomon did. Exhausted and empty. Because if God is not in it, you do not even want it when you get it.
You Are Not Alone — What I See in Christian Women Every Day
Can I tell you what I see in the women who come to me?
She loves God — genuinely loves Him. But somewhere along the way she started believing that walking in God’s peace and presence every day was for other women. The ones on the stage. The ones who seem to have it all together. Not her.
So she shrinks. She waits. She performs — more Bible reading, more serving, more doing — and when she falls short she feels disqualified all over again. Nobody ever told her that her authority in Christ was given not achieved. Nobody showed her how to actually access God’s peace and presence on an ordinary day. So she fills the gap with social media, with self-help, with anything that feels like progress — and wonders why she is still exhausted.
Friend that is not a faith problem. That is a formation problem. And it is exactly what this episode and the Living God’s Way mentorship are here to fix.
What It Is Costing You to Not Walk in God’s Peace and Presence Daily
When we are not walking in God’s peace and presence every day as Christian women here is what actually happens:
We stay smaller than God designed us to be. We make decisions from fear instead of faith. We tolerate situations that God has already given us authority over. We keep asking God to do what He has already told us to do. We burn out trying to do in our flesh what only the Spirit can do. And we model a powerless faith to our kids, our families, and our communities.
The world is telling you to be your own authority. Hustle culture says you are enough. Social media says become your best self. All of it points you back to yourself — away from the One who is actually your source.
And the enemy? He is very comfortable with a Christian woman who knows the right words but never walks in the actual power behind them.
The Hard Truth — We Have Drifted From God’s Peace and Presence
Somewhere along the way Christianity in women’s spaces started to look like Jesus plus whatever you want. A little Scripture, a little manifestation, a little new age, a little self-help — all dressed up in pretty fonts and worship music. Manifestation language replacing prayer. Vision boards replacing Scripture. Claiming things replacing actual surrender.
When we declare our dream life into existence instead of surrendering to His will — we have quietly made ourselves God. That is not faith. That is idolatry dressed up in Christian language. Romans 1:25 tells us that people “exchanged the truth about God for a lie, and worshipped and served created things rather than the Creator.”
God will not share His throne. But He will carry every burden you are willing to lay at His feet. That is the difference between the world’s version of faith and actually walking in God’s peace and presence every day.
What the Bible Actually Says About Your Authority to Walk in God’s Peace and Presence
Let us go to the Word — because this is where the confusion ends and walking in God’s peace and presence actually begins.
Luke 10:19 “Behold, I have given you authority to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy, and nothing shall hurt you.”
Did you catch that? I have given. Past tense. Already done. This is not something you are working toward. Jesus already gave it.
Ephesians 2:6 “And God raised us up with Christ and seated us with him in the heavenly realms in Christ Jesus.”
You are not fighting for victory. You are fighting from victory. Your position is already above.
Romans 8:37 “In all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us.”
Not we will be. Not we might be if we do enough. We are. Right now. Today. In the middle of the hard marriage. In the middle of the diagnosis. In the middle of the overwhelm. More than conquerors.
James 4:7 “Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.”
He does not just leave. He flees. That is the authority you carry as a daughter of the Most High God.
2 Timothy 1:7 “For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power, love and a sound mind.”
Fear is not from God. Power is your inheritance.
What the Bible Says About Your Anointing to Experience God’s Peace and Presence
1 John 2:27 “But the anointing you received from him abides in you.”
It abides in you. Already. Right now. You are not waiting to receive your anointing like it is something that happens to special people on a stage somewhere. If the Holy Spirit lives in you — and He does — the anointing is already there.
2 Corinthians 1:21-22 “Now it is God who makes both us and you stand firm in Christ. He anointed us, set his seal of ownership on us, and put his Spirit in our hearts as a deposit.”
God anointed you. God set His seal on you. God did that — not your performance, not your productivity, not your perfectly color coded Bible. Him.
Romans 8:11 “And if the Spirit of him who raised Jesus from the dead is living in you, he who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies because of his Spirit who lives in you.”
The same Spirit that raised Jesus from the dead is living in you. That is resurrection power taking up residence in your body, your mind, your home, your everyday life. We don’t get our power from giving it to the universe. We get it from God.
Acts 1:8 “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you.”
The Greek word is dunamis — the root of our word dynamite. That is what lives inside you.
1 Peter 2:9 “But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God’s special possession.”
Royal. Chosen. Special possession. That is your identity — not who the world says you are.
Joel 2:28 “And afterward, I will pour out my Spirit on all people. Your sons and daughters will prophesy.”
Daughters included. Always included.
The Question That Changes Everything About God’s Peace and Presence
If all of that is true — and it is — why are so many Christian women living so far below it?
Not because God has not given it. Not because the anointing is not real. Not because the authority is not yours.
But because nobody taught us how to access God’s peace and presence in our daily lives. Nobody showed us what walking in His peace and presence actually looks like in a real life with real problems. How to reach for His power in a conflict instead of reaching for our phones. How to activate His authority in a crisis instead of freezing in fear.
Dear sister — you are not waiting to become something.
You already are something. It is time to wake up and walk in it.
A Note on the Holy Spirit and Walking in God’s Peace and Presence Daily
This needs to be said plainly.
The Holy Spirit is not a concept. He is a person. He is power. And He is available to you right now in the middle of your ordinary day.
I have the gift of speaking in tongues — and people have told me constantly that the gifts of the Holy Spirit ceased after the early church. My response is always the same: then why am I able to do this?
Galatians 5:16 tells us to “walk by the Spirit” — and when we do we can overcome the flesh. That is not metaphor. That is a promise. The Holy Spirit is not something that happened to people in Acts and then stopped. He is alive, He is active, and He wants to move in your everyday life.
Joel 2:28 — “Your sons and daughters will prophesy.” Daughters included. Always included.
Walking in God’s Peace and Presence in the Middle of Real Pain — A Personal Story
I want to share something deeply personal.
I am walking through something devastating right now — and out of respect for others I am not going to share the details. But I want to tell you what happened in the exact moment it hit me. Because I had a split second to choose: am I going to trust God or not?
And the only reason I did not break — the only reason — was that God’s Word was already in me. My daily time with Him had prepared me for a battle I never saw coming.
These are the declarations I spoke in that moment. This is the actual note on my phone:
- God I trust You more than I need answers.
- Put a guard over my mouth my mind and my heart.
- Death and life are in the power of the tongue — I will speak life.
- What the enemy meant to harm us God will use for good.
- He knows the way that I take. I will come out of this refined like gold.
- I will wait in full assurance of what I cannot yet see.
- Lord reveal the root and rip it out. Plant your healing truth there.
That is not white-knuckling. That is not hustle. That is a woman walking in God’s peace and presence — so when the crisis hits the Word is already in her and the authority is already activated.
If that word was for someone today — I pray right now in Jesus’ name that God would send His angels to minister to you right where you need Him most.
God’s Way vs. The World’s Way of Finding Peace and Presence
The world’s answer to pain and emptiness is hustle harder, manifest it, give it to the universe, optimize your morning routine, become your best self.
God’s answer is Isaiah 30:15 — “In returning and rest you shall be saved; in quietness and trust shall be your strength.”
Returning. And rest.
Not hustle. Not striving. Not white-knuckling your way to a life that still feels empty when you get there.
Zechariah 4:6 — “Not by might nor by power, but by my Spirit, says the Lord Almighty.”
That is the antidote to everything the world is selling. Stop striving. His Spirit is the power source. And He is already living inside you.
Which way do you want to live? The world’s way or His?
How to Actually Walk in God’s Peace and Presence Every Day — The 3S Path
So what does walking in God’s peace and presence actually look like practically?
Not a rule-based checklist that makes you feel guilty when you miss a day. Simple phrases. Simple questions. Scripture you can whisper as a silent warrior in the middle of a meeting, a workout, a hard conversation. A way to check in with God before you check in with your phone.
2 Corinthians 6:17 — “Come out from among them and be separate.” We cannot walk in God’s peace and presence daily if we are not willing to agree with Him — in our hearts, our minds, and our words.
That is the missing piece. Not more hustle. Not another strategy. Not a better morning routine.
Agreement with God. Daily.
Here is the simple biblical framework I call the 3S Path:
SEEK God First — Move Him from just another item on your to-do list to your first priority and your daily strength. Proverbs 3:5-6 — “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him and He will make your paths straight.”
SURRENDER Daily — Lay down the white-knuckle grip on your kids, your business, your body, your outcomes — and trade it for His easy yoke. Matthew 11:28-30 — “Come to me all you who are weary and burdened and I will give you rest.” Every single day.
SHOW UP in the Spirit — Stop relying on your own willpower. Learn to walk into your home, your gym, your office carrying the actual power and peace of the Holy Spirit. Galatians 5:16 — “Walk by the Spirit and you will not gratify the desires of the flesh.”
This is not complicated. It is not a performance. It is a daily returning to the One who is already your strength.
Are You Ready to Start Walking in God’s Peace and Presence Every Day?
Jesus looked at a little girl everyone said was dead and said “She is not dead. She is only sleeping.” And He walked into the room and woke her up.
He is walking into yours right now.
You have read the books. You have tried the programs. You have prayed for more peace, more clarity, more of Him. This is the answer you have been asking for. Not another self-help system. Not more information.
