Let’s get into the Word and walk this out together.
Foundational Scripture:
“You will keep in perfect peace those whose minds are steadfast, because they trust in You.” — Isaiah 26:3
Before we dive in, I want to share a 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 review from Lenora about the Strong. COnfident. His. Podcast Hormones and Menopause for Christian Women series. She wrote:
“Kim! I have felt so alone in this. I’ve felt like a stranger in my own body. This series has been an answer to my prayers. Thank you for teaching me that God cares, what I can do to feel better, and what to ask my doctor. I feel so much better.”
Lenora—thank you. That’s exactly why I created this series to remind you that you’re not alone God is with you—even in your hormones.
Let’s Be Real Perimenopause and Menopause are Hard, But You’re Not Alone
If you’ve ever cried in the grocery store or sat in your car asking, “God, what is happening to me?”—you’re not alone. These aren’t random issues. They’re rooted in hormonal and neurological changes happening in your body.
And they’re not signs of weakness—they’re signs that your body is shifting. And God is with you in every bit of it.
Psalm 46:1 reminds us: “God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble.”
What’s Happening in Your Brain During Hormonal Changes
As estrogen and progesterone decline during perimenopause and menopause, your brain chemistry also shifts. These hormones directly affect your neurotransmitters:
- Serotonin – regulates mood and happiness
- Dopamine – affects motivation, reward, and focus
- GABA – calms the nervous system
So what does this mean?
You might feel:
- Moodier than usual
- Less motivated
- Foggy or forgetful
- More anxious or easily startled
🧠 These aren’t just emotional responses. These are biochemical reactions. And knowing that gives you compassion for yourself—and a plan.
Research Shows… Recent studies confirm what many of us have felt:
- The Lancet Psychiatry (2023): Women in perimenopause are 2–4x more likely to experience depressive symptoms, especially if unaddressed.
- Harvard Health (2022): Strength training and consistent physical activity reduce menopausal anxiety and improve mood.
- Frontiers in Psychology (2023): Practices like gratitude journaling, prayer, and deep breathing rewire the brain’s stress response and increase emotional regulation.
Friend, the science is finally catching up to what the Bible has always told us: Your thoughts matter. Your body and mind are connected. And your peace comes from Jesus.
“You will keep in perfect peace those whose minds are steadfast, because they trust in you.” — Isaiah 26:3
The Spiritual Side: What’s God Doing in This? It’s easy to feel like you’ve lost your edge, your motivation, your joy. But here’s what I’ve learned in my own walk through this season:
God is doing a new thing. He’s using this pause, this stripping-away of performance, to invite you into deeper dependence. You’re not losing yourself. You’re rediscovering the part of you that’s rooted in Him—not in hustle, hormones, or pressure.
“Be still and know that I am God.” — Psalm 46:10
This might be the first time in your life you’ve had to slow down—and that’s not a bad thing. It’s a holy reset.
Neuroplasticity and Hope: Your Brain Is Still Changing—and That’s Good News
Sister, if you’ve ever thought, “I’m too old to change” or “This is just how I’ve always been”—science and Scripture would disagree.
The truth? Your brain is still changing—every day.
This is the incredible gift of neuroplasticity—your brain’s God-designed ability to form new pathways, adapt to new habits, and even rewire old thought patterns. It means healing is possible. Growth is possible. Change is possible—at any age.
Studies show that learning new skills, stepping outside of routine, and practicing habits like gratitude, Scripture meditation, and creative play actually:
- Improve memory, focus, and attention
- Boost emotional resilience and mood
- Support hormonal balance by lowering cortisol
- Slow cognitive decline and protect long-term brain health
One study published in Frontiers in Aging Neuroscience found that older adults who engaged in learning digital photography or quilting had significantly greater improvements in memory and attention than those in passive or social-only groups.
That means your brain thrives when it’s challenged in loving, joyful, and meaningful ways.
Faith-Filled Action Step:
Ask God what new thing He might want to do in your mind and heart.
Then take one small step:
- Try a new walking route and notice God’s creation
- Pick up a hobby you’ve always been curious about—painting, journaling, photography, learning a worship instrument
- Begin a gratitude + Scripture journal
- Start strength training (yes—your brain benefits too!)
- Memorize one verse a week and speak it out loud every morning
✝️ Romans 12:2 — “Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind.”
You are not stuck. You are not finished. You are being transformed, day by day.
And every time you choose God’s truth over old lies, or joy over fear, a new pathway forms.
Why GLP-1s (Ozempic, Wegovy, Mounjaro) Are Being Used in Menopause: A Christian Woman’s Guide
What they are, how they work, and what you need to know before considering them
Let’s have a real, research-backed, and prayer-covered conversation about GLP-1s.
Before making any decision about your health—whether it’s GLP-1s, HRT, or something else—bring it to God first. Talk to your doctor, seek wisdom, and if you feel peace after praying through your options, trust that peace.
The Holy Spirit—not fear, shame, or pressure—should lead your health decisions. And once you’ve sought God and have clarity, no one else gets a say.
First, What Are GLP-1s?
GLP-1 medications like Ozempic®, Wegovy®, Mounjaro®, and Zepbound® aren’t your typical weight loss drugs. They’re peptides—short chains of amino acids that mimic a hormone your body already produces called glucagon-like peptide-1.
God designed your gut to release this hormone after you eat. It:
- Slows how quickly food leaves your stomach
- Helps your pancreas release insulin
- Lowers blood sugar levels
- Sends a “full” signal to your brain to reduce overeating
So GLP-1 medications don’t introduce something foreign—they amplify a God-designed process. But that doesn’t mean they’re without risks. More is not always better, and your body needs balance.
Why this matters in menopause: During perimenopause and menopause, many women become more insulin resistant, meaning their bodies don’t use insulin efficiently. This can cause:
- Increased belly fat
- Blood sugar spikes and crashes
- More cravings and fatigue
- Greater risk for prediabetes or type 2 diabetes
GLP-1s can help regulate blood sugar and reduce insulin resistance—making them a potentially powerful tool in this season of life, especially for women who feel like nothing else is working.
But here’s the key: they are a tool, not a magic fix like they are being sold.
Used responsibly—with whole God-made food, strength training, and spiritual support—they can help restore balance. Used carelessly, they can cause nutrient deficiencies, muscle loss, and deeper hormonal imbalances.
As always, wisdom and prayer are your best guides.
“Wisdom is the principal thing; therefore get wisdom. And in all your getting, get understanding.” — Proverbs 4:7
Why So Many Women Are Using Them Now
Originally approved for type 2 diabetes, GLP-1s are now FDA-approved for chronic weight management and are being used off-label for emotional eating, metabolic resistance, and “food noise.”
Many women say:
- “It’s the first time I didn’t obsess about food all day.”
- “I finally felt in control of my cravings.”
- “It helped me stop emotionally eating.”
There’s no denying that for some, they’ve been life-changing.
✅ Pros (When Used Properly):
- Help regulate blood sugar, insulin, and appetite
- Reduce cravings and overeating
- Support weight loss, often >15% of body weight
- Lower cardiovascular risks in certain high-risk groups
- Quiet constant “food noise” and reduce emotional eating
❗️But They’re Not a Magic Fix
GLP-1s are not meant to be used as monotherapy (used alone).
They are only effective—and safe—when paired with:
- Whole, God-made food
- Strength training and daily movement
- Adequate protein to prevent muscle loss
- Emotional and spiritual support
- Proper rest and sleep
- Regular check-ins with a trusted, knowledgeable doctor
⚠️ Cautions and Considerations:
- Side effects: nausea, reflux, fatigue, constipation
- Muscle loss: common without strength training and protein (up to 30% of lost weight can be lean mass)
- Cost: brand names can cost $1,000+/month; compounded versions exist but require discernment
- Hormonal disruption: some women experience cycle changes, fatigue, or thyroid shifts
- Rebound weight gain: very common after stopping if root causes haven’t been addressed
- Mental health shifts: some report mood changes or even depression
❗These medications should never be taken without medical supervision.
You need labs monitored—A1C, lipids, thyroid, liver enzymes, fasting insulin, and more. A doctor who understands hormones and whole-body health is essential.
What About Compounded Versions?
Because of the demand and cost, some clinics and telehealth providers are offering compounded GLP-1s (usually semaglutide or tirzepatide). These are created in compounding pharmacies and not always FDA-approved.
If you go this route:
- Make sure the pharmacy is 503A or 503B certified
- Confirm the source of the peptide (some use salt-based vs. acetate, which can affect efficacy)
- Ask your doctor if compounded peptides are right for you
- Be extra cautious of clinics offering them without medical oversight or ongoing support
A Faith-Based Reminder to Help You Feel Like Yourself Again in Menopause
You are not weak for needing help.
And you are not more holy if you never do.
This isn’t about shame or shortcuts. It’s about wise stewardship—and remembering that no shot, shake, or supplement can replace God’s guidance, the power of His Word, and the slow, beautiful transformation that comes from walking in His strength.
“Wisdom is the principal thing; therefore get wisdom. And in all your getting, get understanding.” — Proverbs 4:7
📌 Before You Begin, Ask Yourself:
- Am I seeking a quick fix—or true transformation?
- Have I already tried consistent God-made nutrition, rest, and strength training?
- Am I willing to do the internal work—identity in Christ, emotional triggers, spiritual surrender?
- Do I have a doctor who will monitor my labs and help me preserve muscle, metabolism, and hormonal health?
Bottom Line, Sister:
GLP-1s can be powerful tools in the right hands—but they are not a replacement for the truth, training, and transformation you can build by putting God first in your fitness.
Let’s get wisdom. Let’s steward our health well. And let’s walk this journey together—Strong. Confident. His.
5 Faith-Filled, Science-Backed Steps to Feel Like Yourself Again in Menopause
Support your hormones, reset your nervous system, and renew your mind in Christ
If you’ve been feeling off—more tired, anxious, moody, or just not like yourself—your hormones and nervous system may be calling for help. Especially during perimenopause, menopause, or seasons of stress, your cortisol, insulin, estrogen, and serotonin can all feel out of sync.
But God didn’t leave us without wisdom.
These 5 steps combine biblical truth, practical wellness strategies, and science-backed support for your parasympathetic nervous system—the “rest and restore” system that helps bring calm back to your body.
1. Wake → Walk → Word (Not Phone!) even for just 10 minutes
Before grabbing your phone, open your Bible. Let God speak first.
Start your day with:
- Water: Hydration supports digestion, lymph flow, and detox.
- Walk (in natural light): A 10-minute walk within an hour of waking helps:
- Lower cortisol
- Set your circadian rhythm
- Increase serotonin and energy
- The Word: Quiet time with God grounds your day in peace—not pressure.
✝️ Psalm 143:8 — “Let the morning bring me word of your unfailing love, for I have put my trust in You.”
🚫 Don’t start your day with social media, texts, or news. That floods your mind with cortisol and comparison.
✅ Do start your day in stillness, Scripture, and surrender.
➡️ A Note on Sunlight, Circadian Rhythms, and God’s Design
You’ll hear a lot of “biohackers” talk about morning light, blue light blocking, and circadian rhythm syncing like it’s some new secret to productivity and health.
But Sister—this isn’t new. It’s what God designed from the beginning.
“And God said, ‘Let there be lights in the vault of the sky to separate the day from the night… and let them serve as signs to mark sacred times, and days and years.’” — Genesis 1:14
When you step outside first thing in the morning—when your bare eyes catch sunlight—it signals your brain:
“It’s time to wake up. Produce cortisol. Set the rhythm. Align with the light.”
This isn’t a trend. It’s creation.
Science is finally catching up to what Scripture already told us:
- Light in the morning = energy, mood balance, hormonal rhythm
- Darkness in the evening = melatonin, rest, and restoration
So while the world is selling hacks, we’re walking in holy habits that align us with how God wired our bodies.
Let’s not chase what’s trendy—let’s return to what’s timeless.
2. Gratitude + Scripture Declarations
Research shows that gratitude shifts your nervous system out of stress and into calm. Write down:
- 3 things you’re grateful for
- 1 Scripture to stand on
- A short faith declaration to say aloud
Example:
✝️ Isaiah 26:3 — “You will keep in perfect peace those whose minds are steadfast, because they trust in You.”
✅ “God is with me. I trust Him. My body is healing. I walk in peace.”
Gratitude + Scripture helps reset mental pathways stuck in fear, fatigue, or frustration.
3. Support the Parasympathetic Nervous System
When your sympathetic nervous system is in overdrive (think: anxiety, racing thoughts, digestive issues, overwhelm), here are gentle, God-given ways to activate your parasympathetic (“rest and restore”) system:
- 4-7-8 Breathing: Inhale 4, hold 7, exhale 8. Repeat 4 times.
- Worship music: Slow, Scripture-filled music reduces cortisol and increases dopamine.
- Prayer journaling: Externalizes emotions and invites God into the process.
- Cold exposure: A quick cold splash on your face can calm the vagus nerve.
- Gentle touch: Light massage, laying hands on your chest or belly while praying can signal safety to the brain.
- Deep belly breathing with Scripture meditation
“Be still and know…” — Psalm 46:10
Science confirms what Scripture teaches: Stillness, truth, and worship restore us.
4. Strength Train 2x/Week for Hormone and Mood Health
Strength training isn’t just about your muscles—it’s critical for:
- Balancing blood sugar and insulin
- Supporting thyroid and metabolism
- Reducing anxiety and depression
- Preventing muscle loss and osteopenia
Aim for 2 full-body workouts per week, using bodyweight, bands, or weights. You don’t need hours—just consistency.
✝️ Proverbs 31:17 — “She girds herself with strength and makes her arms strong.”
When you train your body, you strengthen your spirit too. It’s stewardship—not vanity.
5. Let Faith Be Louder Than Feelings
Hormonal changes can distort your thoughts. But feelings aren’t facts. God’s Word never changes.
When the waves of overwhelm rise, pause and pray:
“God, I don’t understand what’s happening in my body, but I trust You. You are with me in this, and You will lead me through.”
Write this prayer. Put it on your mirror. Speak it out loud until your heart believes it.
✝️ 2 Corinthians 4:16 — “Though outwardly we are wasting away, yet inwardly we are being renewed day by day.”
Sister, while one chapter is closing, God is already writing the next—full of purpose, peace, and promise.
This season might feel unfamiliar, but you’re not alone. Your body just needs care, compassion, and Christ-centered consistency.
These steps aren’t a to-do list. They’re a faith-filled, physiology-honoring way to reset your system and renew your mind—so you can feel like you again.
One day. One breath. One Scripture at a time.
Fit God’s Way 30-Day Transformation Review and Testimonial from Laurel Hay

- What was your biggest takeaway from Fit God’s Way?
I have been on the wrong path for decades (I’m 74 years old) and that this is a major spiritual battle but God is on my side to transform me being spiritually aligned right and guide me into His will and plan for me.
- How has your mindset shifted around food, fitness, or your identity in Christ?
Big Time Changes! I am working out regularly and feeling physically and mentally great about it! My motivation is to live worthy of the gift of this body – and keep it healthy and in working order for service to Him, especially when I see too many of my peers struggling with physical maladies. (My husband loves the God-made meals and walking together regularly.)
- What step of obedience or breakthrough are you celebrating?
Following the 7 Ws and the 7 Ps and continuing to return to Him after my setbacks and failings. As I said before, it’s like Peter: “Where else is there to go?” I know this is truth – I’ve lived long enough and tried so many other ways to recognize the difference!
- What would you tell another Christian woman who’s thinking about starting this journey?
Do It! Don’t put off any longer. But be aware that you are embarking on a total life transformation. God will work on the inner You (because He loves us and desires the best for us) way before the outer You begins to see changes.
God Bless You – you remain in my prayers. Love, Laurel Hay

“Do not grieve, for the joy of the Lord is your strength.” — Nehemiah 8:10
Prayer to Help You feel Like Yourself Again in Menopause
Dear God,
You see her. You know every shift in her body, every tear she’s cried in confusion, and every moment she’s felt unlike herself.
Lord, in this season of change—when hormones rage, energy fades, and emotions feel overwhelming—remind her that she is not broken. She is not alone. She is Your masterpiece, even in the middle of what feels messy.
Father, we ask for Your wisdom.
Guide her in the decisions she’s facing—whether it’s about medication, supplements, or lifestyle changes. Quiet the noise of the world, the opinions of others, and the lies of the enemy. Replace it with Your truth, Your peace, and Your direction.
Help her know that her worth is not in her weight, her willpower, or her wellness plan—it’s in Christ alone.
Renew her mind, refresh her spirit, and strengthen her body. Give her a sound mind, steady energy, and holy confidence to walk through this season with grace.
Lord, we thank You that even now, You are doing a new thing.
Help her trust You in the waiting, follow You in the confusion, and worship You in the process. May this episode speak life, healing, and hope over every woman who hears it.
In Jesus’ name,
Amen.
I pray this series spoke deeply to your heart. I poured my heart and soul into it, and I would love to know
